I agree---this looks way better than iBlog. I spent a lot of time with iBlog trying to futz with the templates in XML, and it was more art than science. WordPress does a good job of keeping it clean, and is pretty flexible (For some of the things you mentioned trying to do, take a look at the WP plug-ins pages. There's a ton of quite nice free stuff that adds & runs in seconds). Cool!
